Iyaami: The Dawn of Lailai: The Divine Light of the Mothers
by Iyanifa Sarah Fajalabi Roche
This book was written with specific concepts in mind. The first is to give information to those interested in understanding the metaphysical principles and sacred technology of Iyaami Osoronga (African Women's Spiritual Mysteries). Second, to help facilitate the understanding in a way that can be processed easily. Third, to develop an understanding of what Iyaami is and fourth, to help people realize the Mother's are active in their lives at all times. It is an issue of perception which sometimes prevents us from being able to recognize this influence. The author’s intention is to open up a platform for starting the journey of understanding Iyaami Osoronga. The book discusses this tradition through the use of personal experiences, and the experiences of other women. These stories help explain the symbolic meaning of Ancient African Women's Mysteries.

Not sure how to move on after the loss of your mother? You’re not alone. Rarely is moving through the death of your mother simple or easy. You may be too afraid to feel because you “can’t afford to fall apart”. Or are your emotions popping up and spilling out all over the place? Is your grief sitting beside you at the office or the dinner table or in the bedroom? Do your co-workers and family not know what to say to you or even how to help? Or have you been taught “don’t pull the scab off the wound” you’ll be, “in time”, okay, or able to “get on with life”?
When you open these pages you’ll discover that· Yes, you still love them even if there were moments when you didn’t. You’re human!· Yes, you can have your real feelings without being “bad or wrong”. You’re not!· Yes, you’ve got some guilt and anger happening but you’ve forgiveness and love too. Take a deep breath!· Yes, in the middle of it all you can have profound peace and joy. It’s not a betrayal!· Yes, you can know that your loved one is still with you. They are!· Yes, you can survive this! Your inheritance awaits you!

Dr. Camelia Straughn
Dr. Camelia Straughn was born in Brewton Alabama. She is the oldest child born to her mother and her father. At the age of 5, she was raped by her youngest sister’s uncle. At the age of 12, her mother’s boyfriend sexually assaulted her. Then from the age of 13-17, she was forced into sexual relationships with two of her uncles. So at the age of 18, she got married, after the “I do’s” I quickly learned that my husband would make it a weekly tradition to beat me. She stayed for 3 years. She is also a survivor of Military sexual trauma. For years she struggled with the thought that she was not enough. This way of thinking affected how she showed up in the world. She knew she did not want to continue to live her life in such depression and a life cycle of the feast to famine. Through her passion for sexual assault/domestic violence victims and self-esteem building, she was able to move from the idea of not being enough to know that SHE IS Enough! Dr. Straughn has dedicated her life to teaching others the same.
Dr. Straughn is a 23-year Retired Army Veteran, where more than half of her service time was spent training & counseling soldiers in the areas of career, sexual assault, and suicide prevention.
